noはマイナス ❌ lessもマイナス。かけ算するとプラス。＝両方肯定

T先生：実はね、no more...と、no less...のように比較級の前に、noをつけると、「差が０」を表す。差がない、つまり「同じくらい....だ」の意味になる。
ただし、 no less....than.... は超高いレベルで同等。no more .... than...は超低いレベルで同等なんだ。
例えば、「彼は野球のレベルは大谷と同等だ（超ハイレベル）」なら、no less...than...を使う。
He can no less play baseball / than Ohtani.
（訳１）彼も同じくらい野球ができる / 大谷選手と比べて （超ハイレベルで差が０）
（訳２）彼も同じくらい野球ができる←大谷は野球ができるし、（両方肯定の訳し方）
「彼はかしこさのレベルが猿と同等だ（超低いレベル）」といいたいなら、no more ...than...を使う。

（訳１）彼のかしこさは同等くらいだ / おさるさんと比べて （超低いレベルで差が０）
（訳２）彼も同じくらい頭が良くない ← おさるさんは頭が良くないし、（両方否定の訳し方）

T先生：さっと意味をとるだけなら、（両方肯定、両方否定）のやり方も悪くない。要は使い分けさ。
まとめ
no less.... / than.....は「Sは同じくらい...だ / S'と比べて」（超ハイレベルで同等）
no more...../ than...は「Sは同じくらい...だ/ S’と比べて」（超低いレベルで同等）
これが本来の考え方だ。
ただし便宜上、
no less..../ than...を（➖）× （➖）＝（➕） Sも同じくらい...だ ←S’は....だし （両方肯定）
no more .../ than...を（➖）× （➕）＝（➖）Sも同じくらい...でない←S'は...でないし （両方否定）
とすると「意味をつかむ上」ではわかりやすい。
